I don't know what to think.

I've just read a news story,

Police are trialling a system to improve the way emergency responders support those of us who are neurodivergent. It appears to be in the form of a bright green wristband which can be scanned to ensure that officers know the best way to communicate with a particular neurodivergent individual, as well as providing emergency contact details for a parent or spouse.

"NDIDs can be worn by individuals who are neurodivergent and provide information about the person when scanned so that responders can give them the correct help."

I'm many ways this seems like a good idea ... A lot of neurodivergent individuals really struggle in stressful situations. For people who are non verbal when stressed this could make a huge difference.

However, I am still uneasy. Tere is a huge amount of stigma around neurodiversity, barely a day goes by when I don't hear someone claiming that neurodiversity is not a "real thing" and we are all just seeking attention or looking for excuses. As such anything that so visibly draws attention to someone as being different, especially at a time when the government are putting so much emphasis on cutting back support for disabled people in the UK gives cause for concern.
